Overview of Medical Cannabis Services
Dr. Gedde's practice focuses on medical cannabis and serves any person who seeks the medical benefits of cannabis. Her aim is to help patients reach their full potential medical improvement from use of cannabis.
Dr. Gedde works closely with patients, provides patient-specific dosing advice with optional close follow up by telephone, and keeps careful records in order to follow patients longitudinally year by year. She welcomes those who are new to cannabis and looking for significant medical benefits, and provides a consistently superior long term experience for returning patients. Dr. Gedde sees patients of all ages, and for years has been the preferred physician in Colorado to see children regarding medical cannabis. Dr. Gedde enjoys direct referrals from pediatric physicians in the community to her clinic in Colorado Springs.
Plant cannabinoids act in the human body through the human endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a key body system that has receptors throughout the body with roles that include promoting tissue recovery and healing and balancing other body systems, including the nervous, immune and gastrointestinal systems. This is why cannabis-based medicines can have multiple medical benefits with few to no adverse effects.
Dr. Gedde advises on the use of both THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), found in marijuana and purchased in licensed marijuana stores, and CBD (cannabidiol), purchased now as over-the-counter hemp supplements, as well as other cannabinoids such as THC-A (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid).
For those eligible, appointments include completion of the physician certification needed to register with the Colorado medical marijuana program.
